Bravely Default II (Demo) - 12 - (Post-Game) Sub-Quest 003: The Researcher's Nemesis
*Read description*
Doing the extra stuff that unlocks after clearing the Sandswept Ruins. First off, the third sub-quest that appears in Savalon.
Key Notes:
Thief
- The Thief excels on high speed that sometimes grants it more turns in one cycle. Its other positive is stealing items, HP, stats, and even BP (at a hefty MP cost).
- If properly exploited, it can help the wearer weaken a target while strengthening itself. And because buffs and debuffs stack, the results can be extremely worthwhile.
- The shop now has more equipment to buy. If you feel short on money, you can either go northeast of Savalon and cut the grass around the brown bush to find a Stalwart Seed (which sells for 13,000), or use a Thief to steal Tomahawks from Piestes (which sell roughly over 2,000 a piece).
Sub-Quest 003
- This sub-quest involves fighting the Sandworm at Sandswept Ruins (located on the right half, north of the center). It will be in the overworld of the ruins as a puff of smoke in the sand.
Boss: Sandwork - HP: 57,400
Weakness: Ice, Daggers
Carries to Steal: Orichal Dagger (only source, the Thief's best weapon in the demo)
- The Sandworm easily has more than double the HP Bernard had, with stats higher than him. Its weaknesses are ice and daggers, though it resists physical damage so well that you shouldn't bother with anything other than magic.
- It can use Sandstorm to hit everyone in the party, with a high chance to inflict Blind, which lowers the accuracy of physical moves (magic goes unaffected). You can shut this off completely by buying and equipping Silver Glasses.
- With what you have, the Thief's Brave Robber can utterly shut off the boss from acting in a turn by pushing its BP to the negatives.
- Using and stacking the Vanguard's Scale Strip and the Thief's Steal Spirit, you can boost your Black Mage (preferably equipping two Ice Rods) to deal massive damage using Blizzara.
- By the way, you can actually farm Orichal Daggers if you simply steal, flee, wander away from the Sandworm's spot, go back, and steal again. Rinse and repeat.
- Honestly speaking, I could have cheesed this boss way more by having a second Black Mage, but I didn't want to utterly cheese the fight. Where's the fun in that? (...Okay, so there is some fun in that, but still.)
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
