Kikyo the Ninja is just a pain. She is fast and on top of that uses Shippunjirai, which acts first. It is even faster than Ironclad, so no 150% P.Def the first turn. She also uses Utsusemi, which guarantees a full evade against the next attack. To compliment this, she has the Transience passive, which lets her Counter upon evading an attack.

All in all, it is hard to deal damage and stay alive. To still have a chance, I have Edea as Knight, fully clad in the highest Defense gear available under chapter 4 rules (Bloody Shield) and buff her Defense to the maximum. Everyone else starts the battle in HP Critical. This ensures that Edea will use Protect Ally to take all hits that are not counters while no one else dies.

Still, it does not help against counters, which there are a few from. After being countered, the revived person will be out of Critical HP and no longer be protected. I also had Edea's defense buff run out now and then, which worked out at first when Kikyo still had her P.Atk reduced, but not any more when it wore off. The battle was a pretty close call due to some negligence on my part.
