Here's how to break Links in Excel.

i. There are a few reasons why you might not be able to break a link in Excel.

* **The link may be protected.** If the link is protected, you will need to unprotect the workbook before you can break it. To do this, click on the Review tab and then click on the Protect Sheet button. In the Protect Sheet dialog box, uncheck the box next to "Allow users to edit linked data." Click on the OK button to save your changes.
* **The link may be circular.** A circular link is a link that refers to itself. For example, a cell might contain a formula that refers to another cell, which in turn refers back to the first cell. Excel will not allow you to break circular links.
* **The link may be to a deleted file.** If the file that the link is pointing to has been deleted, Excel will not be able to break the link. You will need to restore the file or create a new link to a different file.

If you are still unable to break a link in Excel, you can contact Microsoft support for help.

Here are some additional tips for breaking links in Excel:

* **Use the Edit Links dialog box.** The Edit Links dialog box is a quick and easy way to break links in Excel. To open the Edit Links dialog box, click on the Data tab and then click on the Edit Links button. In the Edit Links dialog box, select the link that you want to break and then click on the Break Link button.
* **Use the Remove Data command.** The Remove Data command is a more permanent way to break links in Excel. To use the Remove Data command, select the cell that contains the linked data and then press the Delete key. In the Delete dialog box, select the "Remove Data" option and then click on the OK button.

If you are using a previous version of Excel, you may not have the Edit Links dialog box or the Remove Data command. In this case, you can break links by editing the formula in the cell that contains the linked data. To do this, select the cell and then press F2. In the formula bar, delete the reference to the linked file. Then, press Enter to save your changes.

ii. There are two ways to break links in Excel and keep values:

1. **Use the Paste Special command.**

To do this, follow these steps:

1. Select the cells that contain the linked data.
2. Press `Ctrl`+`C` to copy the cells.
3. Click on the cell where you want to paste the values.
4. Click on the Home tab.
5. In the Clipboard group, click on the arrow next to the Paste button.
6. In the Paste Special dialog box, select the "Values" option and then click on the OK button.

2. **Use the Remove Data command.**

To do this, follow these steps:

1. Select the cells that contain the linked data.
2. Press `Delete`.
3. In the Delete dialog box, select the "Remove Data" option and then click on the OK button.

Note that when you use either of these methods, the formulas in the cells will be removed and the values will be pasted as static data.

Here are some additional tips for breaking links in Excel and keeping values:

* **If you only want to break links to a specific file, you can use the Edit Links dialog box.** To do this, click on the Data tab and then click on the Edit Links button. In the Edit Links dialog box, select the link that you want to break and then click on the Break Link button.
* **If you want to break all links in a workbook, you can use the Remove Data command.** To do this, select the entire workbook and then press `Delete`.

Then, press Enter to save your changes.

iii. In Excel, breaking a link means to sever the connection between a cell or range of cells and the source data that it is linked to. This can be useful if you no longer need the linked data, or if you want to update the linked data without updating the cells that are linked to it.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind when breaking links in Excel:

* **If you break a link, you will lose the ability to update the linked data automatically.** You will need to update the linked data manually if you want to make changes to it.
* **If you break a link, you may also lose the formatting that is applied to the linked data.** This is because the formatting is stored in the source data, and when you break the link, the formatting is lost.

If you are not sure whether or not you want to break a link, it is always a good idea to make a backup of your workbook before you do so. This way, if you decide that you do not want to break the link, you can always restore your backup.
