Breath of Fire 3 Part 32: The Desert of Death Is as Bad as They Said
Before I even started my Breath of Fire 3 series, I started hearing the Desert of Death was awful. And now we're here. And it's awful :') But it has to be done, so we're doing it! We're starting with a trip to get the Life Armor, which is the best armor for Ryu and Rei and the second-best for Garr, and then... Then I spent another hour getting to Oasis, so I decided to show what the landmarks are when crossing the desert instead of turning this video into a full-length movie of me not having anything new to say :') But at least we end strong with a boss fight! That... is way too easy, but at least it happens XD
Editing to add: When I point out the mirage that looks like city lights, it turns out that also happens for the real Oasis when you get close enough. When heading back into the desert from Oasis, you'll see the see under the true North Star, and it also looks like the False North Star is higher in the sky. So be aware that if you're heading back to get items after making it through for the first time, things are gonna be a little different. Luckily, the true North Star is always the bright red star two turns to the left of the other bright red star.
So, as promised, here are the directions to all the things, starting with getting to Oasis in case you want to skip the extras and then moving on to the extras if you don't want to skip them. Unless otherwise stated, always head the direction for the full night, and ALWAYS use the true North Star to orient yourself. Looking at the North Star, it's four turns left to go West, four turns right to go East, and eight turns left or eight turns right to go South.
Getting to Oasis from Factory (for the first time):
1) North
2) North
3) East
4) East
5) East until the Evening Star is no long visible (took me about half the night), then head North the rest of the night
6) North
7) North until a cutscene
Life Armor location, starting from Factory:
1) North
2) North
3) West
4) West
5) West, and start checking battlefields for something that looks like a breastplate. If you don't see it this night, keep going West through the next night and keep looking
Royal Sword location, starting from Oasis:
1) South
2) South until the first battle zone, then go West
3) West
4) West
5) West
6) West and start checking battlefields
Death Claws, starting from Oasis:
1) West
2) West
3) West
4) West
5) West
6) West
7) West and start looking for a chest on a battlefield
Speed Boots, starting from Oasis:
1) East
2) East
3) East
4) East
5) East
6) East
7) East and start looking for a chest on a battlefield
I've found other instructions out there that people say work in certain versions of Breath of Fire 3, but they haven't been tested in all versions so I'm sticking with this main ones that are known to work. Best of luck, everyone :')
