Finally got myself a mill! A very nice and deck out Bridgeport too! But it needs some love... Watch how I take this apart for some much needed maintenance.

This really is a dream machine to me. 42inch table, 2hp variable speed motor, one-shot lube for all ways and leadscrews, power feed on both x and y and digital read out on all axis. Plus some nice rubber ways covers that judging by the lack of chips in the knee worked very well. And the ways are chrome plated too! This bridgeport has it all.

The general condition, exept some rust and dirt is also good. Only a few scratches and a couple broken knobs. The only real wear I found is on the x leadscerew: right in the center the threads are worn and bit thinner so I either have a bit more backlash in the center or very stiff movement at the ends. Everything else works well so I can't complain!

This work took around one month. I never played with such heavy machinery, it has been a great challenge!

And yes, the head was pretty much just cleaned. I replaced the quill spring off camera and ordered a new wheel for the slow quill feed or auto feed mechanism because it was missing.
Bearing sound fine, nothing is broken, maybe I'll give it a deeper clean later but for now I'm just too thrilled to actually use the mill!

The laser I have is the FLUX Beambox, with 40W laser:
