Months before the Platinum Jubilee, a top-secret mission involving ponies, wolfhounds, a goat and a ram was taking shape.

The British Army's top regimental mascots gathered in Edinburgh in a rare joint appearance to pose for a special photograph to mark the 70th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne.

The mascots travelled to Scotland from all corners of the UK for the picture, which was kept secret for months.

Each mascot represents its regiment, a symbol of its identity and traditions and its soldiers.
