British soldier killed on exercise 30.11.11
An investigation is underway after a British soldier was killed in an incident at a training ground in Kenya. Fusilier James Wilkinson, who was 21 and served with the 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, was on a six-week exercise when he was fatally injured on Saturday. In a statement today the Ministry of Defence said: "Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult and sad time. "The matter is being investigated by the Royal Military Police (Special Investigation Branch) and the Land Accident Investigation team and it would not be appropriate to comment further while inquiries are ongoing." His family paid tribute, saying: "Being in the Army was in James' blood - it was what he had always wanted to do, serve his country just as his dad Rob had done before him. "Anybody who knew James had the utmost respect for him - he was simply treasured by all that knew and loved him."
