You hear a lot of people talk about 'PC Gaming' and how awesome it is, but PC hardware spans a huge range of power levels, so I wanted to take a look and see how fundamentally different the gaming experience was on a budget sleeper gaming PC compared to a high dollar custom gaming PC.

The budget machine is the one from our Dell Optiplex 9010 upgrade video. It has an i7 3770, 16GB of DDR3, a 4GB GTX 1650, a 1TB SSD and a 2TB HDD. The custom PC has an i9 9900k, running at 5ghz for this test, 32GB DDR4, an 11GB RTX 2080ti, a 512GB NVME boot drive and 2x 2TB SATA SSDs for game storage. They are on totally different levels!

Resolution and settings make a HUUUUGE difference though. Gaming at 1080p vs 4K is like the difference between multiple console generations, GPU-wise. Resolution increases are just that tough. They also require more VRAM, and the higher effects settings will require more CUDA cores.

Both of these computers deliver a great gaming experience though, the beast rig drives a high refresh 1440p monitor, and the GTX 1650 gets the job done at regular settings 1080p.

Let me know what you think of this comparison, and thanks for watching!
