6The Bugatti Mistral, also referred to as the Bugatti W16 Mistral, is a remarkable mid-engine, two-seater sports car built in Molsheim, France, by Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. Unveiled on August 19, 2022, this masterpiece has already cemented its place in automotive history. In November 2024, the Mistral achieved an astonishing top speed of 282 miles per hour, earning the title of the fastest roadster in the world. Deliveries are set to begin in early 2024, with all 99 units sold out ahead of time at an incredible price tag of five million euros each.
Despite sharing some similarities with the Bugatti Chiron, the Mistral is not a convertible version of it. Instead, it stands as an entirely independent roadster model, designed to commemorate the iconic W16 engine that Bugatti first introduced with the Veyron in 2005. This engine, making 1578 horsepower is a symbol of engineering brilliance, will not be featured in future Bugatti models, making the Mistral a truly special swan song for this legendary powertrain.
The Mistral's exterior design sets it apart from both the Chiron and Bugatti's newer vehicles. Its aerodynamic yet luxurious look is highlighted by uniquely crafted front headlights featuring four diagonal lighting strips. The rear lighting takes the form of two arrow-shaped designs, elegantly pointing toward the Bugatti emblem, which is also integrated into the lighting system.
Inside, the passenger cabin draws inspiration from the Chiron but adds exclusive touches that reflect Bugatti’s attention to detail. A notable feature is the gear lever, which houses a sculpture of a Dancing Elephant embedded in amber—a nod to sculptor Rembrandt Bugatti, the brother of Ettore Bugatti, the company’s founder.
The Bugatti Mistral is a fitting tribute to a legendary era of automotive excellence, blending speed, luxury, and artistry in a way only Bugatti can.
