Building a Metroidvania: Soribel (#13)
This is the thirteenth video in our series of building a metroidvania. In this stream, we work on death animations for our player and our enemy. Specifically, by the end of our stream, both our player and our enemy can die and have visuals to go along with this. Throughout our stream, we also try a few other things that we decide to table when the enemy takes damage: a sound effect, a visual flash, and a color change. However, we were able to implement the following for our own player when it takes damage from an enemy as well: a visual flash + an invincibility frame. In essence, this means the player will be able to see a flash of light on themselves when they are getting hit but for a brief period of time they will not be able to take any more damage.
