In all honesty, the main thing that attracted me to this project is the company behind it. Filament Games are a group of people who have been working on gamifying education and life skills. This is actually what I specialised in when I was a teacher! Back then, gamification was a pretty new idea and things were rough when it came to execution.
But when I was teaching, I always kept in mind the games that actually taught me things. Caesar 3 and Age of Empires stoked my interest in history. SimPark and Biosys made me care about the environment. And I picked up programming surprisingly easily probably because of all the system building I did in city-builders and simulation games like SimCity.
Not to mention, RoboCo reminds me of one of my favourite childhood games, Star Wars: Droidworks. That was a game where you built custom robots to solve puzzles and navigate environments. I wish I could get that working again but I'm pretty sure Disney would copyright strike that video into oblivion.
