The playtest for Bullet Hell Monday's PC/Steam port just opened, and the game is amazing! Been playing through each of the difficulties a few times and doing a bit of scoring alongside some of the other players. This is showing my replays of my first clear of all 4 difficulties. Of course, can't really call it a sightread or going in blind at all, as I've played through this level many times on the mobile version x3

I wanted to post my first clears of each of the modes on this version, both to showcase gameplay and hopefully draw a bit more attention to it. The series is by far the best shmups on mobile devices, and even holds up and outperforms most arcade/PC shmups extremely well in its game design, balanced excellently for both beginners and hardcore players alike. The developer, Masayuki Ito, really deserves more support for their works.

The games are free to play on mobile, let you disable ads right from the start, and everything can be unlocked by just playing the game. The PC port is currently an invite only playtest on Steam, though they have mentioned wanting to ensure gamplay, replays, and the leaderboard all function well. Me and few others ran into a crash or two, so if you want to request access and give it a go!

These high scores were all top 3 when initially set, though other players have done better on the mobile version, and when I went to record these replays, my Heaven mode position fell down to 4th. I kinda want to try to get 1st on all difficulties if I can, though also its just a playtest version, so I'm not too focused on it x3 After this recording, I then improved my PB on Normal and Hard mode, solidly getting 1st on those, though I imagine as more plays are let into the beta, I'll quickly fall through the ranking.

The strategies used for scoring are essentially what is done in the mobile version, but with some minor changes. The ability to switch between Mouse to Keyboard simultaneously (and even controller if you wanted) allows for a lot of interesting gameplay styles to emerge I feel, as in the mobile version, you can only move and shoot simultaneously. With PC controls, we can now move and shoot independently, as well as have theoretically very fine control over our ship and damage output. I think most strategies will be largely the same, but this may open the the ability for getting a little extra score out of a boss or stage than you otherwise would be able to on mobile. We'll have to see in the full release though!

Please check out the game and the developers works! Even if you haven't played before, the game is designed to be approachable to beginners to the shmup/bullet hell genre, and it does so better than any other shmup I've played.

That's about all I got for now though. Might end up posting a few more of these if I get better scores, or after the playtest is over just as an archive (actually running low on storage space on my PC, so clearing up a few video files would be good ^^;; )
