The Goodbye Kiss (Chinese: 吻別; pinyin: wěnbié) is Jacky Cheung's fifth Mandopop album, which was released on March 5, 1993.
The Mandopop album was a great success in the Greater China region. 1.36 million copies were sold in Taiwan,[1] with a total population of 19 million at the time. There is no statistical number of sales in Mainland China due to piracy, but the influence of the album in China was higher than previous popular songs.[citation needed] In early 1994, Hong Kong's popular music reached a historic high point in Mainland China. The album sold 600,000 copies in Singapore, breaking local records.[citation needed] The Goodbye Kiss sold over 4 million copies in 1993 throughout Asia, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Japan etc.[2]
In 2003, Michael Learns to Rock covered the title track, "Goodbye Kiss", in English and released it as "Take Me To Your Heart". The song has also been covered by many Asian musicians, such as Jay Chou, Anson Hu, Justin Lo, and others.
