Byron Buxton Three Homers, 13 Total Bases | On This Day In Major League Baseball History, August 27
On this day in Major League Baseball History, August 27th, a lot of cool things happened around major league baseball. In 1978, Joe Morgan became the first player ever to record 200 home runs and have 500 stolen bases. There is only one other player in the history of Major League Baseball to do that. In 1982, Ricky Henderson broke the record for number of stolen bases in a single season at 118. He finished with 130. In 200, the Angels became the first team in the American League to have four players with 30 home runs. The Twins are on pace to tie that record or break it. In 2017, Bryon Buxton hit three home runs and had 13 total bases. I thought this was a Twins record but that belongs to Kirby Puckett at 14 (who we will talk about on August 30th).
