CachyOS , a GNU/Linux distribution based on Arch Linux with a focus on speed and security optimizationsVersion 20230917 of has been announced. The new version of the distribution, which can be used with KDE, GNOME, XFCE, i3, bspwm, LXQT, Openbox, Wayfire and Cutefish desktop environments, comes with KDE Plasma and GNOME desktop environments. It is stated that KDE Plasma is a comprehensive and flexible desktop environment that offers multiple menu styles to access applications, while GNOME is stated to be a user-friendly desktop environment with a touch-style interface to access applications. It is stated that XFCE is a lightweight and flexible desktop environment with a traditional drop-down menu to access applications, and it is stated that it is compatible with Compiz. The new version is available with CachyOS kernels that use different schedulers and patches to improve performance. It includes an application that better shows which kernel is installed or can be installed. The distribution includes a lightweight software application suite installer for CachyOS that helps install and install applications.
