We had one fun mission today! One. The mission at the dam, part of which literally made no sense as that's what the bomber was supposed to do - blow up the generators. But it was more of a traditional shooter. Me, alone, going into an area and clearing out the enemies. Enemies that had to not be able to aim or I wouldn't have made it three steps thanks to the damage in this game.

In fact, the amount of damage you take in this game is one of the biggest issues. They compensate by having health everywhere. How many games have we seen this in? And how many times has it been just a terrible decision? The latter, all of them. A war of attrition is one thing. Having your health slowly whittled down due to the hordes of enemies coming for your blood, THAT is the bread and butter of FPS games. But having every enemy able to drain your health in under a second if they actually hit you? That's just an RNG fest. You only get to move forward if the game's RNG allows you to pass. A lot of times, enemies will appear in places where you can't react to, or appear multiple enemies at a time. If your health is THAT fragile, any number of situations can take you from full to dead before you can react - as seen in the last level here, with no amount of skill able to actually save you.

When the player doesn't have control of their fate, it's not fun. You've taken all the agency away from the player and placed it in a dice roll. Even worse, on two different maps here I died at the very end due to a stray shot while I was not in control of my character. One was the awful rail section, and one was the even worse turret section. The turret section alone, I need to shoot down planes, but I need my teammates to shoot at the ground units shooting at me. And that's more RNG.

I used to love this game. Replaying it was a mistake. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/the_nametag
