After an Emission and Psi Storm close together, it was time to leave or bug-out of Jupiter even though it was still night outside. I called my 16 Companions to follow me, and we gathered on the bridge just outside the Mobile Lab. I wisely made a manual save at this point in the anticipated journey and we continued up the hill to the crossroads in front of the Checkpoint. The Ecologists were still there. From the crossroads I decided to divert to the north-east directly down into the Quarry after checking for mutants. As we descended, there were small mutants, most likely Tushkano everywhere and several of my Companions took off to kill them.

This is the reason for the case of friendly fire killing one of my Companions, as Companions have a tendency to shoot at targets regardless of who might be in their way. I didn't have time to do much more than press on and continue north on the western bank of the Quarry and then up the hill. I made another manual save as we gathered and then we came out of the Quarry and got on the road. The Cement Plant was deserted, and we continued towards the level changer and as we got to the road going to it, I saw three enemies ahead and I blasted them with my shotgun, dropping them instantly. When I looted them, I discovered to my horror they were Duty. Since when were the Loners at war with Duty? I missed getting that warning. As we left the level, my Game crashed.

Going back and reviewing the recorded video, I see right when my Companion was killed to friendly fire and I was checking out his corpse, I got the message Duty and Loners were at war. I hate getting important messages when I am preoccupied. I was surprised because this was the third Faction relations change that I had gotten in a few hours. Since I had the Game crash, I have to choose where to pick up from. I'm going to use the manual save at the bridge with all 16 Companions alive and choose a different path than going down in the Quarry. I think staying on the road will allow me to see any mutants better, especially small ones, even though it will take a little longer. Hopefully the Duty-Loner war can get delayed or not happen at all.
