My coverage of the whole triggering saga ends with The Mary Sue making quite a reflective piece.

“Your Fav Is Problematic”—Callout Culture, Cyberbullying and Toxic Activism in Fandom."

Yeah, they're basically making a reflective piece on themselves and their behaviors. I want to highlight some segments that I find pretty illuminating.

"Challenging official lines and mainstream narratives is part and parcel of resisting, a feature of dismantling the things our society normalizes, all of which disenfranchise marginalized groups."

Man. You progressives really love to fight for minorities, but you don't realize that the mainstream is all in favor of you at the time, and that there are loads of people who hide behind these progressive activisms as an excuse to be absolute dicks to other people.

"There’s a different kind of callout culture within fan communities that is a toxic kind of activism enforced by a small but vocal minority."

I'm glad that you understand that there are loads of people using activism as an excuse to be a dick, especially when they don't like seeing ships that they don't agree with.

"We live in an era of Donald Trump, and with right-wing nationalist rhetoric finding increasing support, we should be angry."

Wow. This one aged shockingly well. Great job, Mary Sue. No thanks to you, Trump.

"There’s nothing socially progressive about toxic callouts hiding beneath the guise of social justice."

Agreed. Nice that this whole thing ends in a self-reflection on the Mary Sue's part, but I can tell you for a fact that these kind of takes will continue to persist today. They just exist in different forms being held by different people. Hopefully, those people can reflect on them and realize that just because you're an activist championing for good causes doesn't mean you're a good person.
