IMAGINE Developers REQUIRED to Run Games!
I'm glad that the Stop Killing Games petition reached more than a million signature. I do find it funny that Pirate Software responded with the whole thing by saying "I hope your initiative gets everything that you asked for, but nothing you wanted." Wow. What an utterly vindictive take, but he gets enough clowning from loads of other people already. So, let's tackle another clown take.
"Imagine if the developers of Concord were required to keep Concord running."
Yeah, imagine game developers making sure that their online-only game that customers bought with their hard-earned cash actually functions properly. How dare these customers demand these standards, right? Not that Concord is a great game, mind you. It's a pretty mediocre affair, but do you know what Sony did in response to the Concord shutdown? They offered refunds. I think Ubisoft should follow suit, but that would require Ubisoft having some ethics.
"Look at Hollywood, who is terrified to lose money they venture nothing risky. Remakes and sequels. Does that look familiar in the gaming industry these days?"
I really don't understand this comparison. At least you can rip movies and store them as a file. If you're going to make the excuse that you don't have the technical knowledge how to preserve those games, give the customers a freaking refund just like how Concord did. A gift card or a coupon code would be a good start. You can generate those digitally on your sleep, but that would require game companies to take some form of loss, right? Because they really need to exploit their customers out of every dollar in their pocket, right?
