You know how the last few days, gamers have been campaigning to stop destroying games, and how it's gotten almost 1.4 million signatures? You know how Ubisoft's The Crew is like the big reason why people are taking this initiative? Here's Ubisoft making things way worse for everyone.

Ubisoft may terminate your EULA at any time, and upon termination, and I quote, "You must immediately uninstall the product and destroy all copies of the product in your possession." That's way too overkill, isn't it? We're here campaigning game companies to stop killing games, and here's Ubisoft literally telling people in their EULA to start killing games.

Apparently, this was updated back in 2023, which is still pretty bad, and it does explain why they are insistent on killing The Crew instead of providing people alternative means of playing that game when the servers are out. Say what you want about Concord. At least when they're out, they offered refunds.

Like I said many times before, game companies are not your friends. They are not letting you own the games that you bought, and they are urging you to destroy the copies of the games that you already owned. They're not even supporting their own workers and employees. Laying them off is just a regular thing to do, right? And how convenient it is that the latest video game layoff at the time of writing is from Ubisoft themselves.

Oh, and here's their response to the whole thing. It's only making things worse. This paragraph literally says that it's been a part of the EULA for more than 10 years. Nice to know that you've been advocating to destroy games for a long time now.

"The language in the clause may sound unusually strong." And because of that, we're going to "review this clause." In other words, sorry that you caught that. We're going to change it to make sure that you don't get it anymore. Sorry, what was that about not owning games and how comfortable you have to feel about it? Also, ratio and replies disabled, as if we need more reasons to hate Ubisoft.
