If you only post raw gameplay, can you grow a YouTube channel?

No, you can't, and it's as simple as that. There is nothing to separate you from the crowd. Further more, your videos don't have anything in them to make someone want to watch them. So, adding things like proper edits, your voice, and even a face cam can make all the difference between a successful and non-successful channel.
