Can Lightsabers Run out of Battery?
358The Lightsaber is a precise weapon, trusted by the Jedi Knights to keep peace around the galaxy even when things got really bad… But could they ever run out of battery? Well, the answer might surprise you.

Most lightsabers were powered by an extremely energy dense power cell made from diatium. The cell was connected directly to the focusing lenses of the saber, which channeled that power through it’s kyber crystal. At that point the energy was used to create a coloured plasma determined by the colour of the lightsaber crystal, before moving through a series of magnetic containment rings.
this whole system was extremely energy efficient, and the only energy lost was through small amounts of heat and light energy waste. Although, when making contact with solid targets like battle droids, blast doors or human flesh, the saber could expend signifcant amounts of energy, transfering it’s heat to the target.
Jedi that used their saber very often, like the Generals of the Clone Wars would actually have to bring their lightsabers back to the Jedi temple every few months to chare the diatium cell.
Jedi who followed the true teachings of the Jedi order and rarely used their weapon however never had to recharge their saber, as they could channel small amounts of force energy into the power cell, keeping it sustained…
