131Short answer: No. You automatically equip an armor when joining some guilds and during some guild promotions:
Paladin
Mercenary
Novice
Mage
Ring of Water
You need to reach the higher rank in one of the 3 paths for Xardas to be willing to repair the Eye of Innos.
With the paladin path or the mercenary path you have one automatic equip.
With the mage path you have two automatic equips.
You also need to kill Raven for Vatras to be willing to repair the Eye of Innos.
Besides playing without the addon or clipping through walls, this requires you to join the Ring of Water. That implies one automatic armor equip and also requires putting on the recognition ring at least once to talk to Orlan about joining the ring. Once you have shown Vatras Dexter's orders, unequipping the recognition ring does not remove the "SCIsWearingRangerRing" flag anymore. So the recognition ring is quickly put on and off again at that point.
So in total these 3 very brief item equips are unavoidable:
