Can You Beat S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl With A Gauss Rifle?
1This is not a joke. This is not a drill. A lone stalker with a bad case of amnesia was once seen sprinting across the Zone. He came back with a Gauss Rifle; a marvel of science and speculative fiction. However, it doesn't take a scientist to figure out that this game can be beaten using only this weapon (without the use of mods)! Stay for a while, listen and I'll show you how I did this.
The loner in the trenchcoat at 24:48 is not a glitch. This NPC is part of a scripted "bandit" squad that spawns in the Garbage to mug a certain loner along with two other "bandits" while not immediately becoming hostile with the player as soon as they enter the Garbage. I found the first of the aforementioned "bandits" in the Cordon; NPCs can travel between levels.
Also, I was able to perform what is known as the "Elevator Glitch" in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. speedrunning community. Special thanks to a YouTube user named Magpie for publishing a tutorial on how to do this glitch as well as a method of skipping the Brain Scorcher. The elevator glitch can be performed in all three S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games as well as the many mods based on them. His tutorial on this can be accessed here:

The same saving/loading method used to break the Brain Scorcher can also be used upon first entering Pripyat; this can prevent Monolithians from spawning in certain areas.

Performing the ammo glitch can also allow players to find other useful loot such as food, medical supplies and artifacts. I am not to be credited for finding the ammo glitch. Over the years, I've been unable to find the definitive source of whom I found this out from.
