VVVVVV Speedrunning - Candy Factory Any% TAS in 2m25s588ms (Quick Release version)


This is TAS #7.

I complete the VVVVVV custom level Candy Factory by Btd456creeper, on the version he submitted for the VVVVVV Discord server Halloween contest 2020, and got second-to-last place with, in 2 minutes, 25 seconds, and 588 milliseconds. There are 4 trinkets in this level, but it's not really interesting to get all of them, so this is Any%.

This TAS is done in 4282 frames and has 638 re-records. Additionally, I TASed this in two sittings in about 5 hours. In this video, I am on commit 434a672ac492f1798f8a53cd26c5013d156671d7 of VVVVVV 2.3, so the timing of this run is subject to change in the future as 2.3 development continues; in particular, this run features a bug that ought to be fixed in 2.3 where there are no-draw frames whenever you enter or exit a custom level that has custom assets, and I save and quit from this level twice in this run. In fact, I had to fix my 60 FPS version of this TAS after upgrading it from 30 FPS, because of this annoying no-draw bug. So once that bug is fixed, the TAS would be re-timed to get a lower time. Glitchrunner mode is not used.

This is a quick release version, meaning I have decided to get the video out as quickly as possible, while sacrificing things like the standard side borders and video thumbnails that I usually do, along with having no input display. Since the VVVVVV Discord server Halloween contest 2020 results got released yesterday, I decided to do this video as quickly as possible.
