Part two of an epic mini-mini-series.

A Gummi bear (also spelled as gummy bear) is a small, rubbery textured confectionery, similar to a jelly baby in English-speaking countries. The candy is roughly 2 centimetres (0.79 in) long and shaped in the form of a bear. The gummi bear is one of many gummies, popular gelatin-based candies that come in a variety of shapes and colors.

The Gummi Bear originates from Germany where it is popular under the name About this sound Gummibär (help·info) (rubber bear) or About this sound Gummibärchen (help·info) (little rubber bear). Hans Riegel, a candy maker from Bonn, started the Haribo company in 1920. In 1922, he invented the Dancing Bear,[1] a fruit gum made in the shape of a bear.[2] The success of the Dancing Bear's successor would later become Haribo's world-famous Gold-Bear product in 1967.[3] Trolli is another gummi candy manufacturer and the first to introduce Gummi Worms in 1981.[4] Gummi bears are also one of the few types of candy to have been turned into a television show.[5]

The word cartoon has various meanings, based on several very different forms of visual art and illustration. The artists who draw cartoons are known as cartoonists.

The term has evolved over time. The original meaning was in fine art, where cartoon meant a preparatory drawing for a piece of art, such as a painting or tapestry. The modern meaning refers to both humorous illustrations in print and animated films. Even more recently, there are several contemporary meanings, including creative visual work for electronic media and animated digital media. When the word cartoon is applied to print media, it most often refers to a humorous single-panel drawing or gag cartoon, most of which have typeset captions rather than speech balloons. The word cartoon is sometimes used to refer to a comic strip,[1] and it can also refer to a humorous illustration for fiction or nonfiction published in newspapers and magazines.
