"Cars Don't Reproduce!" Is this REALLY the fatal blow to Common Design?

Common design best explains the homologous patterns observed in the biological world. Human engineers design modes of transportation with a lot of common features. Sedans across Europe, Asia, and North America, comprise many similar traits. They are built with four doors (generally), two rows of seats, four tires, engines, frames, steering wheels, etc. Vehicles of all kinds are now front-loaded with a variety of special features. These include back-up cameras, navigation systems, and different types of neat safety features (adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, parking sensors, lane assist). The reason for these similarities are not because the sedans share a common arctic ancestor. No, these similarities exist for functional and aesthetic purposes.
Apologists of evolution attempt to argue against design analogies by repeating the argument "cars don't reproduce". They assert this loudly and proudly. They make this argument as if this is some profound truth that only those in the evolutionary community have managed to figure out! Committed evolutionists have no choice but to invoke this weak response to the obvious evidence for design (seen in biology) because they understand the focus on design analogies appeals greatly to the general population. Human engineers build in homologous (and even nested hierarchical) patterns. Therefore, why shouldn't God?
Remember, the Bible states that we as humans are made in the Image of God. This must mean there must be something about humans that reflects the divine. We should be able to get an idea into how God designed the biological world based on the way we build things. And it turns out human engineers build and design things in many of the patterns observed in the biological world. Therefore, to argue against the design hypothesis by asserting "cars don't reproduce" is actually a strawman argument. This is a fallacy. And it is a refusal to engage the design model in a sophisticated manner. Adding reproducing only adds complexity.
The ability to reproduce adds even more problems for the evolutionary model. It is flabbergasting that guardians of common descent think its a good idea to invoke an argument that actually works against their own viewpoint.
