In 1995, Konami would release Castlevania Dracula X for the Super NES platform, marking an end to the 16-bit era of that series. It was based on the game Dracula X Rondo of Blood that appeared on the PC Engine Super CDROM2, yet was different in many respects. It would be one of the most discussed 2D Castlevania entries for years to come.
