Castlevania: Dracula X (via Castlevania Advance Collection) playthrough Part 2 Final
One level. Ok, mostly one boss. That's today. I spent most of the day working my way to Dracula, and then falling in a pit. By this point, I shouldn't need to remind people of how much I loathe instant death traps on bosses, particularly final bosses. It makes the fights boring. Especially a two-stage fight like this. Because, with the instant death traps, the bosses' attacks MUST be easy to dodge, as any failure can kill you. So you have a long, tedious fight that you can do without getting scathed, until the second form which you don't have a lot of time to practice because he can end the fight in a single hit thanks tot he instant death. Then it's back to the tedium. This is far from the only game with this boss design and it is absolutely awful.
Beyond that, the rest of the game is merely OK. I'm not going to say it's a bad Castlevania game. It's really not. But I'm glad I don't have to play it again. As a note, I did rescue the second character while off-line. And it has another replacement, changing the clocktower boss to Death, who is harder than the one that was up there. And one picture changed at the end. That's it. Ultimately? Meh. I'm glad this game was included in the set, as more is more, and I want all the games preserved. But now that I've played it I'm pretty done with it. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/the_nametag
