I played the NES Castlevania games on stream a while back, during the first NES on Steam December block. They're fun, tough but fun. A little too tough for me in Castlevania III's case. However, I never really played any of the other non-Metroidvania Castlevania games. Sure, I had Symphony of the Night, the three GBA games, and the three DS games. Even had that dumb multiplayer gear farming one on the Xbox 360. But the SNES, Genesis, Gameboy etc. entries? The other classic 2D ones? No, never played them. Even with these Steam sets.

Time to change some of that at least. Here we are with Dracula X, the 4th game in Castlevania Advance Collection. I already tore through the three GBA games in this again, but this game is the odd one out. Thrown in as seemingly an after though, of "oh crap, we forgot to include this in the last set, better toss it in here." I figured I should finish it as well, to truly mark this collection as complete. And why not stream my suffering while doing so?

Ug, this game feels less fair to me than the others, or maybe just playing the games with the better controls in between has made me forgot how difficult the originals were. The controls, oh man, so clunky. This definitely has closer to the classic NES controls in it. And that always was one of the hard parts of the game. But I made a significant amount of progress. I am up to stage 7. Lots of abusing continues, but nothing that can't be done on hardware. No cheating with save states or rewind so far. The only "save" was to continue tomorrow where I left off. Looking forward to it. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/the_nametag
