Hm. Well, here it is. The last run of Chapter 7 that I'll do. I previously had a 1:47-something on this stage, but it had a really sloppy pyramid climb. I always wanted to redo this stage but never really had the motivation to do so because it is so terrible to run. The ghosts and ectoplasms are in incredibly random positions which can totally ruin the flow of the level, and mummies can attack you before you are even on screen. It is full of difficult maneuvers.

After trying to run Chapter 8 a bunch today, I decided to finally give Chapter 7 a few more tries. I had one miracle run that clocked at 1:43.80 or so but had a terrible fight with Astarte. A few runs later, I got this run. This is only the third time I've ever caught the early elevator, so I'm very glad it turns out ok.

There are some obvious issues with this run. The biggest one is that I jump into Ectoplasm. I tried dive kicking, but either my down didn't register or I jumped slightly after I released down. Either way, I missed and jumped into it. That's a shame. I also accidentally landed on the ledge immediately after that, missed the corner boost in the Bubbledog room, and then got hit by the Bubbledog. However, when I got to the switch in the Final Guard room, I was only ~2.5 seconds behind my best time there. Not bad. I landed the two most important corner boosts, got early elevator, and got the best possible luck on Astarte.

Overall, I'm happy with this run. The pyramid climb was perfect, the second half of the level was perfect, and the rest of it looked pretty great except for the hits. Damn ectoplasm. :(
