This is part 2 of my Playthrough of Castlevania Symphony of the Night Nightmare Mode. This part just like with my level 1 run covers the Inverted portion of the castle. The inverted castle is where most of broken stuff present in SOTN is located with most of then being enemy drops like the infamous Crissaegrim and while the Hard Mode mod made a excellent job at nerfing the more overpowered ones, he missed some and even unknowingly buffed one weapon in particular (Vorpal Blade). Thanks to the SOTN edit tool i was able to remove said broken drops from the enemies so theres no way to abuse then as in Luck Mode even if something is weak but is capable of multi hitting on every frame, makes then prime candidates for getting critical hits. Usually fist weapons are the ones with a very high chance of getting critical hits which is compensation for their lack of range respectively but when a weapon has both range, multi hits and gets criticals like no tomorrow...we have a problem. Some of the bosses of the inverted castle can be cheesed in the main game usually by a combination of equipment with immunities that makes then literally not able to inflict damage on you. The hard mode mod creator noticed this for Galamoth and decided to make all his lightning attacks have the Hit attribute instead of being the Thunder Attribute to make the fight harder but some other bosses like Akmodan II, Beelzebub and even to a extent Fake Trevor/Sypha/Grant could still be cheesed thanks to equipment combinations. While the SOTN edit tool doesnt allow me to change enemies specific attack properties, with clever thinking with what you can do with the tool you can make those fights play differently by altering their attribute affinities or removing some drops from the enemies drop pool so that cheesing becomes impossible. One other thing i had to account for in the inverted Castle is to make sure enemies and bosses were balanced around the Dragon Helm. As you might know despite of the way the item description says, the Dragon Helm when being worn reduces the defense value of all the enemies by half so using as a example the Tombstone enemy: that enemy in the regular game has the highest defense stat of 100 but with the Dragon Helm equipped, its defense is now 50. Taking this into consideration i made most bosses in the inverted castle have very high defense values to account for the Dragon Helm as removing the item of the game is not possible with the tool but i wouldnt remove even if i could actually as the equipment by itself is not overpowered as it requires game knowledge of when to use it especially with the way i edited things ingame when it comes to enemies stats. I will again provide what i changed with the tool below in the comments section of the video. Thank you everyone who watched and enjoyed this run :) as i had a blast finding this tool by a freak accident online and being able to increase the fn factor of the game that i played so much back in the day.
