Castlevania: SOTN (PS1/Hack) Deathless Run - Richter Mode With Hard/Survival Mods
To complete my playthrough of Castlevania Symphony Of The Night i will be doing a Richter Mode run while both the Hard Mode and Survival mods are on meaning theres no way for Richter to heal outside of a Life Max Up which truly makes it a literal Survival Run. Just like my regular Alucard runs, i will be doing this mode completely deathless from start to finish. One thing i had to absolutely do to make this run possible is to use the Tool to edit SOTN (the one that i used to create the Nightmare Mode) to alter the Holy Resistence on bosses in the Inverted Castle. The Hard Mode mod made most bosses either resistent or neutral to Holy if they originally had a weakness to it and of course the Modder of Hard Mde was not fully taking into account balancing it around Richter mode as well as some bosses are pretty much unwinnable because of their Holy Resistence alongside a much higher defense stat making Hydro Storm deal pitiful damage on bosses. Sadly Richter cannot fully avoid certain attack patterns in the game without the use of hearts and in the normal game that isnt a problem but on Hard Mode it literally becomes impossible as Shaft has such a high defense + HP alongside a Holy resistence that a Hydro Storm will literally only deal 6 damage per hit...depending how Shaft begins his lightning chant attack, Richter cannot avoid it without hearts and will be forced to get hit and with Shaft's damage output being tripled, Richter will not survive long more than 3 hits... I noticed the run was impossible on a previous test run so i decided to default the Holy attribute affinity of the bosses to the original game counterpart but keep everything else like the Hard Mode mod like the damage, Defense and HP buffs on enemies. This makes Shaft more challenging but beatable. Hydro Storm just like a normal game run with Richter will be abused to hell and back but since i am playing it with no healing on save points and everything dealing double damage at least means i have to play extremely safe just to stay alive so the circunstance makes Hydro Storm more of a necessity instead of a game breaking item crash and without it you will basically die instantly. Galamoth on this mod combination is basically impossible to beat unless you are willing to hit him 32000 times in the head since thats his hp and his defense is so high that anything besides Hydro Storm or Blade dash will deal more than 1 damage outside of lucky critical hits on the body (reminder that the Hard mode mod increased Galamoth's head defense to 9999 so you wont ever dead more than 1 damage on it) so i went with pretty much a minimal boss route to rush straight to Shaft.
