Synopsis
Xie Lian, San Lang, and A-Zhao venture into the ancient Half-Moon kingdom in search of the Shanyue Fern to cure Xie Lian's poisonous bite. During their search, they encounter Tian Sheng and other travelers who have followed them. San Lang successfully finds the Shanyue Fern and applies it to Xie Lian's wound, healing him instantly.
Their relief is short-lived as they discover a man's face emerging from the ground, revealing that he was buried by Half-Moon soldiers to serve as fertilizer for the Shanyue Fern. Despite Xie Lian's attempts to help, one of the merchants approaches the man and is killed by his elongated tongue. The commotion attracts Half-Moon soldiers led by General Millstone, who capture the group and escort them to the Sinner's Pit. The General demands that two individuals be thrown into the pit as a sacrifice. A-Zhao attempts to fight but is overpowered and thrown into the pit. Xie Lian tries to reason with the general in the Half-Moon language, but this only angers him further upon learning that Xie Lian is from the Central Plains. As tensions rise, San Lang silently approaches the edge of the pit and deliberately lets himself fall in, leaving Xie Lian in shock
