As you already know Pikachu is the most popular pokemon in the Pokemon franchise, it's Ash's starter pokemon and trademark of Pokemon company. He isn't the strongest pokemon (not even when he evolves in Raichu) but many people like to have him just because he is cute and popular. In Pokemon Crystal / Gold / Silver there are 4 ways that you can get Pikachu. First one is to trade with someone who has him, second is to get Pichu from odd egg and evolve it, third way is to buy Pikachu from Celadon City game corner for 2222 coins and the forth is to catch him in route 2 in Kanto region, south from Pewter City (like I did).
