How to evolve Togepi into Togetic in Pokemon Crystal / Gold / Silver?
235In 2nd generation Pokemon games Togepi won't evolve into Togetic just by hitting certain lv, Togepi needs to have enough happiness (over 220) to evolve, when he reaches enough happiness you just past one lv and Togepi will evolve. You can check happiness lv in that lady's house in Goldenrod City, if it's over 200 (and then you will know that you are close) she will say that your pokemon trust you a lot or that it seems happy.
Here are the list of things that make pokemon happier:
Catch it with friend ball (Can't do to Togepi since you can only get him)
Give it a haircut underneath Goldenrod City
Walk 512 steps with it on your team
Make it grow a level
Use pokemon in important battle (Gyms and Elite 4)
Feed it HP Up, Iron, Calcium, Carbos or Protein
Use Rare Candy on pokemon
Here are the things that make pokemon less happy:
Letting the Pokémon faint (-1)
Using Heal Powder or Energy Powder (-5)
Using Energy Root (-10)
Using Revival Herb (-15)
