Keeping on with the Xenoblade X covers, here's an arrangement of 96-:Rip, i.e. the Cauldros theme (a.k.a. Kuro no Tairiku). This one was pretty interesting to arrange, since the original track has a very distinct sound quality to it (lots of textures and LOTS of compression/squashing), even more so than your average Sawano piece. Aside from the trademark Sawano drop in the (pre-)chorus, I had no idea where I wanted the arrangement to go... until I noticed the quiet initial part blended surprisingly well with the guitar lead intro to a certain Dream Theater song (kudos if you can spot which one): the rest of the cover was built from there, trying to keep some of the distinctive traits of the original, such as the powerful chorus synths and the slightly eerie chimes, while also adding my own spin.
