Cavalcadence plays Cadence 15: Zone 4, Ending (Cadence), & Credits


For anybody who's interested in custom Cadences (or other characters), the official NecroDancer FAQ has some info about creating custom characters, and even has a link to the pinned thread on the official forums, where people have posted some of their custom creations:

So... NecroDancer has officially launched! It's out of Early Access, and you can now buy the official (complete) version of the game, complete with all 4 Zones, alternate soundtracks(!), a few other extras... and an actual story that starts with Cadence, continues with Melody, and concludes with Aria. =)

Anyway, mainly because of the story cutscenes (but also because so much about the game has changed since the first time I recorded Zones 1 through 3), I've decided to play through all four Zones in order, instead of skipping directly to Zone 4.

So now here we are at Zone 4! New monsters, new mini-bosses, new boss battles, new music... new things to learn, new mistakes to make... and Cadence's story ending! =)

Anyway, here's my first ever Zone 4 completion! Made a lot of mistakes along the way (I'm still learning how some things work in Zone 4), but I'm pretty happy with how the final Boss battle turned out! Anyway, hope you enjoy!


The Zone 4 mini-bosses and bosses I encountered during this run were:
- The Mommy, Ogre, Red Dragon, Dead Ringer, and The NecroDancer.


Some notes and possible points of interest:

0:25 Zone 4, Level 1
1:54 First coin multiplier lost, first damage taken (Spider).
1:57 Mini-boss: The Mommy
2:29 Zone 4, Level 2
3:22 Mini-boss: Ogre
4:10 I was checking the mini-map for the blue treasure chest when I ran into that spike trap. =p
4:16 Since I hadn't found any health recovery items yet (well, other than a Drumstick protected by spike traps), extra damage from the Ring of Might seemed like it'd be more useful than the extra heart container from the Ring of Peace.
4:24 Zone 4, Level 3
4:29 Finally, some good armor... and a torch! =)
4:58 Mini-boss: Red Dragon
5:12 The Plate Armor definitely saved me there...
5:21 Decided to use the Shrine of Peace for the healing effect (and the extra hearts!), even though it meant losing my armor and torch and the Ring of Might. So that I wouldn't lose the Spear, I went back to the Shop to swap it with the Rapier first. And I know the Gold Rapier is technically a better weapon, but I figured in an unfamiliar Zone, adding one extra thing to think about (picking up Gold for the damage bonus) might cause me to make even more mistakes than I'd already made, so... =)
6:42 Since I'd lost my Ring of Might to the Shrine of Peace, I figured the extra damage from the Titanium Rapier might end up being useful in the upcoming Boss fight.

This was my first time getting to the NecroDancer, and since Cadence only had one heart of health, I wasn't overly optimistic... but on the plus side, I had watched EladDifficult play (and win!) the NecroDancer fight a couple times before... so I did have some idea of what to expect. Anyway, I decided to give it my best shot...

11:10 Victory! And somehow, I actually managed to keep Cadence undamaged during that entire battle. ^^;; IMO that was a pretty interesting and fun Boss battle. Kudos to Ryan, Ted, Danny, and crew!
