Cavalcadence plays "Dad Mode" 3: Dove & Monk - Green Bat #9 (All Zones Mode)


For anybody who's interested in custom Cadences (or other characters), the official NecroDancer FAQ has some info about creating custom characters, and even has a link to the pinned thread on the official forums, where people have posted some of their custom creations:

So as a break from Cadence Low Percent, I've been practicing Dad Mode (i.e. co-op solo) with Dove and Monk... which might seem like an odd choice of characters, but if you think about it... it actually isn't that odd. =)

- Dove can't kill enemies, but can pick up Gold.
- Monk can't pick up Gold, but can kill enemies.

Each one makes up for the other's main disadvantage... so in that sense, they're kind of perfect for each other. =)

Well, except that it pains Dove to see anything die. =/ So why would she accompany Monk? Well, like most of the co-op pairings, this is obviously non-canon, but I suppose, as much as it hurts her to see the monsters die, it would probably hurt her a lot more to see her friend die. Or something like that. =p


So anyway... I'd been practicing Dove & Monk... but hadn't been having much luck (I'd gotten to 4-1 a couple times, but no further than that).

And then this happened:
A Monstrous Shopkeeper on 1-2. Wow, that's pretty rare! =)

And then this happened:
A Green Bat on 1-3. Uh... wait, what? A Monstrous Shopkeeper and a Green Bat during the same run? Seriously? Seriously. =p

I did a lot better against this Green Bat than the last one I encountered. I even hit it twice: Once with Dove and once with Monk. =) Anyway, here's the video... hope you enjoy!


The Monstrous Shopkeeper was encountered (Zone 1, Level 2) at around: 3:44

The Green Bat was encountered (Zone 1, Level 3) at around: 5:33

The mini-bosses I encountered during this run were:
Zone 1: Green Dragon, Direbat, and Minotaur.

5:38 First coin multiplier lost, first damage taken (Black Skeleton). I was paying more attention to the Green Bat than the skeleton, and completely failed to notice the bounce trap. =p Good thing I picked up that Chainmail from the Monstrous Shopkeeper! =)
6:17 Dove hits the Green Bat! Green Bat is confused!
6:24 Monk hits the Green Bat! Green Bat is defeated!
6:31 Luminous Torch
7:01 Monk has died! Killed by: Vow of Poverty. I was still thinking about the unlikelihood of getting both a Monstrous Shopkeeper and a Green Bat on the same run... and made a simple careless mistake. =p
