-------------------------

Welcome for an extra weekend CDP this month, and this time I want to feature the Ice Doll series from Premium Pack 25 alongside the Ice Barrier archetype, for obvious thematic reasons! Let's introduce you to the new series, starting with Ice Doll himself. This Level 2 WATER Spellcaster can Special Summon itself from the hand by discarding another WATER monster, and when summoned, adds any WATER Spellcaster from deck to hand. This naturally works well with the WATER Spellcasters that are the backbone to the Ice Barrier deck, such as Revealer of the Ice Barrier and Speaker for the Ice Barriers. Additionally, when sent to the GY, it adds Ice Doll Mirror from deck to hand, a Spell Card that supports WATER decks that use multiple copies of monsters with the same name... just like the Ice Barriers! Mirror also has a second effect to banish it from the GY to tutor or recover Ice Doll to hand, so you have a nice mini-loop of card advantage to work with.

The last major aspect to the new WATER support at play in today's build is Twin Pillars of Ice. This is a Quick-Play Spell that summons 2 Level 4 WATER Tokens. While it does block you from summoning from the Extra Deck the rest of the turn, that's not really the point of this, as it's GY effect allows you to banish it to immediately Normal Summon a WATER monster. I've found that this can combo well with the high-leveled Ice Barrier Generals, that otherwise wouldn't be able to be Special Summoned from the hand. Of course, a more competitively-minded Ice Barrier deck doesn't use all of the generals, but nothing wrong with a bit of casual fun from time to time, no? As for the other generic WATER support cards that have entered the fray, I'd like to callout both He Arkho - "Hudor" and Ocean of Regeneration, as both provide yet another way for the Ice Barrier strategy to bring back their WATER monsters from the GY, building towards that mythical lock that eventually can shut an opponent entirely out of the game. Hope you enjoyed today's frosty build, and wish you warm thoughts as we continue on into the depths of winter!
