CENSORSHIP IN SOUL BLADE ๐ Intro Comparison
The intro sequence of Soul Edge is like the holy grail of gaming intros, hailed by the gaming community as the epitome of PlayStation era brilliance. It's the kind of intro that gives you chills and makes you go, "Whoa, this is next-level stuff!" But here's the buzzkill: when the game made its way outside of Japan, they had to sprinkle a bit of censorship magic on it, and that's just a bit heartbreaking.
Picture this: every version around the globe, except the one in Japan, had to go through a bit of a makeover. In the US, they were cool with everything except one scene โ the intro video decided to flash some nudity, and they were like, "Nah, let's keep it PG." But hold onto your seats, the already slightly censored US version had to put on a different outfit for the European release. Why? Blame it on the UK's weapon regulations that got all serious about kids imitating stuff. Nunchucks, those sleek ninja weapons you see in the original Japanese version, had to take a backseat in almost every UK release (games and movies) until they loosened up the rules around 2000. It's like they had to give the game a makeover for a UK debut while staying on the right side of the rulebook.
