CENSORSHIP IN FINAL FIGHT ๐ Intro Japan vs West
Yo, if you're talking classic beat 'em ups from the 80s and 90s, Final Fight is right up there with Double Dragon. Capcom dropped the original arcade version in '89, and then they hooked up PC and different consoles with it. Graphics were that old-school 2D vibe, and the levels played out in a straight line from left to right.
You could roll solo or team up with a bud as you picked from three characters: Cody the street fighter, Guy the ninja, or Mayor Mike Haggar. And what's the mission? Save Mike's daughter Jessica from the nasty "Mad Gear Gang." It's like Double Dragon vibes, where you're not just throwing punches but also swinging knives and grabbing whatever you can find.
Now, when it comes to home console ports, Final Fight CD was killing it. It was the most spot-on version of the arcade game at the time, thanks to the CD magic. They even threw in a time attack mode and some extra goodies like a revamped soundtrack, longer cutscenes, and a hilarious English dub.
Oh, and peep this trivia: in the Japanese version, Jessica's rocking a bra on the TV screen, just like in the original Japanese arcade game. But when it went international, they switched her to a strapless dress, which honestly matches her in-game style better. And yeah, her colors got a little tweak too. Wild, right?
