Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Critical Mass for PC developed and published by Manic Game Studios.
Critical Mass starts with the oft-repeated mantra of puzzle games - "Blocks fall, make 'em disappear" - and then diverges widely from the usual path. There's no chute or tunnel down which the blocks come, instead, they're flung at and adhered to a central mass which can be rotated in 3D with a click-and-drag of the mouse. Connect four (or more, or many more) of the same color and they explode in a shower of points, and more importantly, dampen the mass' potential to explode. Fail to clear enough blocks before the mass hits the foreground, and... "bang."
