Gokujo! Parodius review. Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow import review of Gokujo! Parodius for Super Famicom developed and published by Konami.

Konami established themselves in the SHMUP genre with games like Gradius, Life Force, and Salamander. Having established a critically-acclaimed set of mechanics, though, the only direction to go was STRANGE. Thus Parodius, literally a "PAROdy of graDIUS," was born. Established Konami characters from every canon they could grab were slammed together and made to fly to the right, while the customary alien craft were replaced with chickens, eagles, disembodied heads... and don't get started on the cake level.
