Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Mortal Kombat for the Game Boy developed by Probe Entertainment and published by Acclaim.

Midway's Mortal Kombat was one of the most groundbreaking games of the 1990s. On the Game Boy, however, it's mostly just broken. This legendary fighter, synonymous with gaming in the nineties, was ported to countless platforms with varying degrees of success. That success was quite limited with the Game Boy. Mortal Kombat is barely playable on Nintendo's handheld, but it at least features familiar faces. Kind of. There are six classic Mortal Kombat characters, and to finish the game, you have to defeat them all. The gameplay is limited, but you can pull off fatalities—albeit censored—and a few special moves per character. Mortal Kombat is a single-player fighter on the original Game Boy.

This video review features video gameplay footage of Mortal Kombat for the Game Boy and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
