Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Putty Squad for the Nintendo 3DS developed and published by System 3 Software.
Originally designed and developed by the Amiga platform in the early 1990s, Putty Squad was finished and never released. It was brought to the Super NES in 1994, but that was the last anyone would see the game for another two decades. In 2013, the game's developers released the Amiga version as a free download on their website, and a year later, Putty Squad was reborn on the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 4. Similar in feel and design to another Amiga platformer called James Pond, Putty Squad is a collection-based 2D platformer that throws lots of stuff at the player. Emphasis on "stuff." Every level is packed with more enemies and items than any level has any right to have. Players must absorb all the putty people in each level to progress. Good luck with that. The claymation-looking Putty Squad is a single-player game on the Nintendo 3DS, as well as a strange tale of video game survival.
