The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky caught me off-guard. I thought I already knew every PSP RPG worth playing, but the name "Falcom" alone can be enough to frighten me with memories of trying to pin down long lineages of Japanese PC releases. But I stepped outside of my comfort zone and tried to appreciate Trails in the Sky for what it is: A well-executed pseudo-tactical RPG with alarming depth, polished mechanics, a setting that's at once familiar and fantastic, and a localization effort that's several levels better than expected.
