Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Gears of War: Judgment for the Xbox 360 developed by Epic Games and published by Microsoft.
Gears of War: Judgment is a third-person shooter rooted firmly in the classic Gears gameplay—mix the over-the-shoulder shooting from Resident Evil 4 with duck-and-cover mechanics. Judgment doesn't do anything new, instead offering just a few subtle refinements to the established formula. As a spinoff release, that's all it really needs to be. The game tells the stories of Damon Baird, Augustus Cole, Sofia Hendrik and Garron Paduk through flashbacks, which then turn over control to the player. There's also an additional campaign that occurs simultaneously to the events of Gears of War 3, offering Gears of War fans an interesting new perspective on the original trilogy. Gears of War: Judgment may have a secondary feel, but it's still a great third-persons shooter and a solid Gears of War game.
