Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of BIT.TRIP Core, a downloadable from Gaijin Games and Aksys Games for the Nintendo Wii. The second game in the BIT.TRIP saga, Core was originally released in 2009 on the Nintendo Wii's WiiWare service. Following up the original BIT.TRIP Beat, Core takes the rhythm based gameplay of its predecessor for another unique spin. You're controlling a stationary crosshair in the middle of the screen. The crosshair can fire a laser in four directions corresponding with the d-pad, so you have to press the d-pad to aim, and since you're playing with the Wii Remote held on its side, you press the 2 button to fire. The targets are elaborately choreographed in such a way that destroying them actually adds to the soundtrack, making this a four-directional shooter that's also a rhythm game. This video review features video gameplay footage of BIT.TRIP Core for the Nintendo Wii and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
