Previously, free users were limited to a hard 70 messages every 3 hours and adverts were limited to playing only when starting a chat. On April 6th, though, Chai Corp rolled out unlimited messages for free users, but adverts now play every few messages. Reportedly, users experienced them as frequently as every 5 replies. In this video, I got an advert at 6 and 7 replies.
As you can see by the timestamps, for most users, that means about 3 minutes of chatting followed by 30 seconds of navigating advertisements. And that's… kinda rough. Not as bad as the ads here on YouTube, for comparison, but still pretty rough. But, that's okay. The founder of Chai Corp. has some good advice:
